Maribor Art Fair: ART METROPOLIS 2019

The Maribor Art Fair: ART METROPOLIS 2019 is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. It is about the promotion of many renowned Slovenian artists and the national promotion of contemporary Slovenian and also international visual arts. Of key importance for the establishment of contemporary art and, with it, sales opportunities, is above all visibility in the presence of authors on the art market, especially the domestic one, which is still developing.

This year's location of ArtMetropolis is in the strict center of Maribor, on Vetrinjska Street in the Salzburg Palace, which comprises at least 500 square meters of exhibition space.

The ARTSTORAGE project

This year's art fair brings a special novelty: we will also present the ARTSTORAGE project, an innovative model for storing, archiving, digitizing and also selling works of art by Slovenian artists, who in the 21st century do not have such a specialized archive-storage space for depositing them. The goal of the ARTSTORAGE project is a creative connection between an economic entity and the creative and cultural sector. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Center for Creativity (CzK).

Art in virtual reality

Virtual reality for visitors and participating artists. The KROG intermedial art project will be presented as part of the program, which can be viewed with Oculus VR glasses. As a special addition to the program, there will be drawing in virtual reality. Artists and visitors will be able to try their hand at creating with state-of-the-art technology.

Cooperation of galleries from Ljubljana, Maribor, Bled and Murska Sobota

Well-known Maribor gallerists Peter Žula, Matej Mojet (M-ART gallery) and Emil Šarkan gallery (Hest gallery), SLOART gallery – a gallery and auction house from Ljubljana, Equrna gallery, Galerija Fotografija and Galerija Robin will join us from Murska Sobota.
