Jasmina Rojc

Born on October 12, 1988 in Šempeter pri Gorici.

After completing the Art Gymnasium in Nova Gorica, majoring in fine arts, she moved to Italy (Venice).

In 2007, she began her studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, majoring in painting. In 2012, she graduated under the tutelage of full professor Igor Lecic and professor of art history Saverio Simi de Burgis with the theoretical work Le scale (Staircases) and the cycle of paintings Stopnice.

After graduating, she enrolled in postgraduate studies in painting at the same academy. She completed her studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice in 2015 under the mentorship of professor Igor Lecic and professor of art history Saverio Simi de Burgis.

She has already prepared a number of solo exhibitions, exhibited in group exhibitions and participated in art colonies internationally. At the national competition (Premio Nazionale delle Arti Bari 2013), in which Italian art academies participate, a jury of nine professors selected only 48 painters from all over Italy, and she was among them. She convinced the jury with her painting Wind Rose (La rosa dei venti, The Compass Rose), a large format (197 x 304 cm), which she painted in oil on canvas in November 2012.

While studying at the Academy of Venice, she exhibited in group exhibitions in important exhibition venues in Italy and Serbia: Spazio Murat Gallery, Bari, Italy, Magazzino del sale 3 Gallery, Venice, Italy, Open University Gallery, Subotica, Serbia, Gopcevich Palace, Trieste, Italy, Arte Fiera Padova, Italy, Punto Enel Gallery, Milan, Italy, Stecca 3.0. From 2007 to 2015, she had 11 solo and 22 group exhibitions.

She is the recipient of art awards in both Italy and Slovenia. During her studies, she received the 1st prize Ex tempore Kromberk 2010, the 1st grand prize of the XI. Painting ex – tempora Duplje and the 3rd prize of the Women Artists Biennale, White Gallery – Palazzo dell'arte Moderna, Rome.

In 2016, she moved back to Slovenia from Venice.

She has been featured in several television and radio shows about culture at home and abroad, including the show Artevisione Magazine on TV Capodistria, and the cultural show Opušteno on TV Subotica in Serbia. So far, numerous Italian, Slovenian and Serbian art critics have written about her paintings.

In 2023, she began teaching art workshops at the Nova Gorica City Gallery. She lives and works in Zalošče, Primorska. She is a member of the Insula Association of Artists, the Association of Artists of Northern Primorska and the ZDSLU.

Current status: In December 2023, she began her maternity leave, which will end in December 2024. She is applying for the status of self-employed in culture for the first time this year.

In 2012, she wrote a booklet entitled Church Art in Zalošče (Presentation of Paintings - 100th Anniversary of the Paintings of Neri in the Church of St. Lawrence in Zalošče) (COBISS.SI-ID – 15865394). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs purchased two of his works (Impulse, 2020, Človeško gojišče, 2020) for the public collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia), Novi val, Culture4future, 2020.

In 2023, the financial company KB d.d. purchased her drawing (Reclining Female Nude, 100 x 70 cm, ink and pencil on paper, 2022) and included it in the permanent collection.

She occasionally leads classes and workshops in drawing and painting.

She lectures and publishes professional articles on the subject of fine arts.
